oubs-lopezclarosAugusto Lopez-Claros was the Chief Economist and Director of the Global Competitiveness Program at the World Economic Forum in Geneva (2003-2006), where he was the editor of the Global Competitiveness Report. He was the International Monetary Fund’s resident representative in the Russian Federation during 1992-95. He received a diploma in Mathematical Statistics from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University. Before joining the IMF, Lopez-Claros was Professor of Economics at the University of Chile in Santiago. He is currently the head of EFD – Global Consulting Network, an international consultancy specializing in economic, financial and development issues.
