PS do you know if cell phone "subscribers" would include what may be the majority of users who 'pay as you go'? ... African cellphones are actually much less complicated to get and cheaper than North American ones, as you know! ... and one cellphone may be 'rented' to many others.

Good point. There are probably far more people *using* cell phones than are subscribed.
