laments how the recession has disproportionately affected men, leading the United States close to the point where the number of women in the (nonfarm) workforce will outnumber men.

Not to sound like a cheerleader for job losses, but this chart looks more like a trend to equality than the descent of man. If men happen to work in more recession-prone industries, perhaps the work of women and the jobs they hold will be increasingly valued.
